title = "Electronic display panel mobile reader",
abstract = "Nowadays, more and more the user interface of household appliances is based on information screens using display panels. The displays give important information, but people with visual disability ca{\'n}t read it, so that is an essential barrier for them. In this article, a software system based on machine vision technology is described. The developed solution runs on commercial mobile devices, like pocket PCs, smartphones, . An image of the display panel is captured using the digital camera incorporated in the mobile device. The captured image is processed in order to detect the numeric, alpha-numeric and iconographic information showed in different types of displays. Finally the information is transmited to the user using text to speech technology.",
