Resumen

Wind energy has experienced a dramatic development over the last decade. Offshore wind farms with multimegawatt machines and variable speed solutions are gaining ground. The power converter is a key component in modern wind turbines with higher power, higher efficiency and lower costs. In addition, the utilities demand increasingly exacting power quality requirements, which can only be met if research on power converters is done. This paper presents a survey of existing power electronics solutions for wind turbines, covering trends and new studies in this field.
