Resumen

This paper describes an Expert System for analyzing faults in high voltage utility power networks. Information about the actual state of different elements (breakers, relays . . . ) in electrical substations all over Spain is collected by a central computer which transmits that information to our Expert System (E. S. ). As a result, the E. S. diagnoses the cause of the fault, providing advice in real time to the operator, so that he/she could follow a sequence of actions in order to solve the problem.
