Resumen

The effect of ion exchange with Zn2+ on the olefin yield, selectivity, and deactivation on the catalytic transformation of chloromethane on HZSM-5 exchanged zeolites (with different Si/Al ratio) was studied. The CHZ-30-Zn and CHZ-80-Zn showed a higher activity and selectivity to light olefins compared to the protonic catalysts (CHZ-30 and CHZ-80, respectively). No appreciable deactivation was observed within the time reaction time. Zinc enhanced the catalytic activity, increasing the rate of chloromethane conversion to light olefins, indicating that zinc cations play an important role in the interaction of chloromethane with the catalyst, lowering the activation energy of the reaction. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the CHISA 2012 - 20th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering and PRES 2012 - 15th Conference PRES (Prague, Czech Republic 8/25-29/2012).
