Resumen
Industrial maintenance and assembly (IMA) is usually a complex task that involves the knowledge of speci–c procedures and techniques for each machine. For example, Figure 15.1 shows several stages of the process of maintaining an electronic actuator of a motorized modulating valve by replacing worn-out parts. This process is composed of a sequence of more than 150 steps and can require over 2 hours to be completed. IMA task performance imposes high memory and knowledge demands with respect to the way the task should be performed (Neumann and Majoros, 1998), as well as competences in the movements and forces that should be applied.
