Resumen

Integrating sensors into microfluidic chips is essential for the development of analytical microsystems. Herein, we present a micrometer scale nanoplasmonic biosensor built on the end-face of optical fibers with gold nanoparticles. It has the capability of measuring nanomolar concentrations of biomolecules in a free-label mode in a matter of minutes. This technology is applied to the measurement of cytochrome c in both aqueous and physiological (serum) solution. The reduced dimensions of the optical fibers (between 100 and 500 micrometers) makes them amenable to their integration into microfluidic chips for applications that require on-line and real-time monitoring.
