Resumen
The aim of the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is mainly linked to aid drivers in safety critical situations rather than to replace them. This chapter deals with the development of arbitration and control strategies and algorithms and analyzes the existing vehicle control solutions for future autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles. Both longitudinal control and lateral control are addressed, and these perspectives consider the driver in the control loop. The chapter first describes the vehicle control solutions in ADAS applications. The ADASs are one of the objectives of the intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) along with intelligent infrastructure and autonomous driving developments. The chapter describes key factors for vehicle control applications (based on ADAS) in the market. Finally, it presents the existing control vehicle solutions in different ADAS applications. Ten groups of ADAS are defined. These applications are currently available or will soon be introduced into the automotive market.
