Resumen
The ratio between conventional power plants generation and renewable generation (especially wind farms) is decreasing during last ten years. This will require changes in the way the grid frequency is controlled. In this paper the main goal is to demonstrate the ability of wind farms to support primary frequency control. A specific power system has been modelled and simulated, including a hydraulic conventional plant, two loads and a 6MW wind farm based on a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The paper presents the simulation results when disturbance occur in the grid, obtained using PSCAD simulation tool.
